What's New This Month?
This month has been absolutely buzzing with activity here at Oscimmanuelsc Lutheran Church, guys! We've seen incredible growth in our community programs, and the energy is just infectious. One of the biggest highlights has been our new outreach initiative, 'Bridges of Hope.' This program is all about connecting with our neighbors in a meaningful way, offering support, and sharing the love of Christ beyond our church walls. We've already seen some amazing stories emerge from this, with volunteers stepping up in huge numbers and individuals finding much-needed assistance and companionship. Itâs truly heartwarming to witness the impact we can make when we come together. Our goal with 'Bridges of Hope' is to foster deeper connections and provide tangible help to those in our community who need it most. We believe that faith isn't just something we practice within the sanctuary; it's something we live out every single day, in every interaction. This initiative embodies that belief, and we're thrilled with the initial response and the potential it holds for long-term positive change. We're also gearing up for our annual Summer Bible Study Series, which kicks off next month. This yearâs theme is 'Living in Faith: Navigating Life's Challenges with God's Guidance,' and we've got some fantastic speakers lined up. Itâs going to be an incredible opportunity to deepen our understanding of scripture, connect with fellow believers, and find encouragement for our spiritual journeys. Remember, consistent spiritual growth is key, and these studies provide a wonderful framework for that. So, mark your calendars, invite a friend, and prepare to be inspired and challenged. We're also excited to announce that weâve upgraded our church website! Youâll find updated service times, event calendars, online giving options, and even recordings of past sermons. Itâs all about making it easier for you to stay connected and engaged with Oscimmanuelsc, no matter where you are. Weâve put a lot of effort into making it user-friendly and informative, so please take a moment to check it out and let us know what you think. Your feedback is always welcome as we strive to improve how we communicate with our wonderful congregation. The digital world is a powerful tool, and we want to ensure we're leveraging it effectively to spread the good word and keep everyone in the loop.
Upcoming Events and Services
Get ready, because Oscimmanuelsc Lutheran Church has a packed schedule of events and services coming your way, and you won't want to miss out on any of it! We're all about community and connection here, and these events are the perfect opportunities to get involved, meet new people, and deepen your faith. First up, we have our Monthly Potluck Fellowship Dinner happening on the third Saturday of every month, right after the evening service. Itâs a super casual and fun way to share a meal, catch up with friends old and new, and enjoy some delicious home-cooked food. Seriously, the culinary talents in this congregation are astounding! Itâs a fantastic chance to relax, laugh, and build those bonds that make our church family so special. Don't forget to sign up at the welcome desk so we can get a headcount. We believe that shared meals are a sacred space for building relationships and strengthening our church community. Following that, mark your calendars for our Annual Church Picnic in July! Weâre heading back to Sunny Meadow Park for a day of games, food, and fun for the whole family. Weâll have a bouncy castle for the kids, friendly sports competitions for the adults (or anyone feeling competitive!), and plenty of time to just relax and enjoy the sunshine. Itâs always a highlight of the summer, a chance to step away from the everyday hustle and bustle and just enjoy each other's company in a relaxed, outdoor setting. More details on the exact date and time will be in next month's newsletter, but start thinking about your favorite picnic dishes to bring! And for those looking to serve, weâre always in need of volunteers for our Sunday School program. If you have a passion for teaching and sharing the Gospel with our younger generations, weâd love to hear from you. Training and support are provided, and itâs an incredibly rewarding experience. Our children are the future of our church, and investing in their spiritual development is paramount. We're also excited to announce a special guest speaker series throughout the summer. Each week, a different pastor or theologian will be joining us to share insights on relevant topics. These are always thought-provoking and inspiring sessions. Keep an eye on the church bulletin board and our website for the weekly speaker announcements. Finally, don't forget our regular weekly services: Sunday morning worship at 10:00 AM and our midweek contemplative service on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. Both offer unique opportunities for worship, prayer, and spiritual reflection. We strive to offer services that cater to different needs and preferences, ensuring there's a place for everyone to connect with God and with our community. We can't wait to see you at these events and services â they are truly the heart of what makes Oscimmanuelsc such a vibrant place!
Stories from the Pews
We love hearing how God is working in the lives of our church members, guys! These stories are a powerful reminder of faith in action and the blessings that come from living a life dedicated to Christ. Today, we want to share a particularly inspiring account from Sarah Jenkins, a long-time member of Oscimmanuelsc. Sarah recently shared how her participation in our 'Godâs Gardeners' ministry played a pivotal role during a challenging time. This ministry, as you know, tends to the church gardens and donates fresh produce to local food banks. Sarah explained, âDuring a period when I was facing significant personal loss, the simple act of working with my hands in the soil, surrounded by the beauty of creation and the quiet companionship of fellow gardeners, became a form of therapy for me. It wasn't just about growing vegetables; it was about cultivating hope within myself. The conversations, the shared laughter, and the tangible results of our labor brought a sense of purpose and peace when I needed it most.â She emphasized how the fellowship and shared mission provided a much-needed sense of belonging and reminded her of Godâs enduring presence even in grief. Another heartwarming story comes from the Miller family, who joined Oscimmanuelsc just last year. They shared how welcomed they felt from day one. âWe had just moved to the area, and we were feeling a bit lost and disconnected,â recounts David Miller. âWalking into Oscimmanuelsc that first Sunday, we were immediately greeted with warm smiles and genuine invitations to join activities. It felt like coming home. Our children have thrived in the Sunday School program, and my wife and I have found a supportive community in our small group. This church hasn't just given us a place to worship; it's given us a true family.â These stories, big and small, are the threads that weave the rich tapestry of our church community. They highlight the transformative power of faith, fellowship, and serving others. If you have a story youâd like to share â perhaps a prayer answered, a moment of spiritual insight, or how Oscimmanuelsc has impacted your life â please donât hesitate to reach out to the church office. We would be honored to feature your experience in a future newsletter. Sharing our testimonies strengthens our collective faith and encourages others on their own spiritual journeys. We believe every story is a testament to Godâs love and faithfulness, and weâre eager to celebrate the victories, big and small, alongside you all. Letâs continue to be a church where lives are transformed and where everyone feels the embrace of Godâs love and the warmth of Christian fellowship. Remember, your journey is important, and your story matters here at Oscimmanuelsc.
A Message from Our Pastor
Grace and peace to you all from Pastor John! As I reflect on the past month and look ahead, I am continually filled with gratitude for this wonderful congregation we are a part of here at Oscimmanuelsc Lutheran Church. Itâs a privilege to serve alongside each of you as we strive to live out our faith in meaningful ways. This month, Iâve been particularly struck by the theme of âServanthood in Action.â We see it so clearly in the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our givers, and the simple acts of kindness shared between members. Jesus calls us to serve one another, and itâs inspiring to see how that call is being answered throughout our church community. Remember the words of Matthew 20:26-28: â...whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slaveâ just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.â This passage isnât just a historical text; itâs a living, breathing directive for how we are called to live our lives today. Embracing servanthood means looking for opportunities, both big and small, to put the needs of others before our own, reflecting Christâs love in practical ways. Whether itâs helping out at a church event, offering a listening ear to a friend, or supporting our various outreach ministries, every act of service matters. Itâs in these moments that we truly embody the teachings of Christ and make a tangible difference in the world around us. As we navigate the complexities of life, let us continue to be a community that lifts each other up, supports one another in prayer, and actively seeks ways to serve. The world needs to see the love of God manifested through us, and service is one of the most powerful ways to demonstrate that love. I encourage you to find a way to serve this week, perhaps by joining a ministry you havenât before, or simply by offering a helping hand to someone in need. Letâs be a church known not just for our worship, but for our unwavering commitment to serving others with humility and love. Iâm excited about the future of Oscimmanuelsc and the continued impact we will make together through dedicated service and shared faith. Thank you for your continued faithfulness and your incredible hearts for service. Blessings!
